Here it is! (finally). First picture from me in a long time. I had to learn how to art all over again.
This is Hybrid, one of
's Space Pirate characters. If you never have, go check out her gallery -- she has the coolest style plus great originality.
NOTE: SPACE PIRATES ARE THE HARDEST THINGS TO DRAW EVER. I have something like 20 thumbnail sketches before I could come close the getting it right. I'll post those in my scraps at some point. As characters, they are build interestingly, with long forearms and huge upper bodies vs the rest of their torso. Their muscle structures are also kind of sinewy plus they have fabric-skin.
Hybrid isn't a typical Space Pirate, but I liked him the most because of the way his face is different from the others, which I thought was much more expressive (I actually glanced at a picture of a dolphin for the jaw). He is also more of a yongster, and likes to dance (I hear) so I gave him an ipod. I also gave him birds, because it's from me and I thought it sensible.
Photoshop. I wish I could say this only took me a very short time to color this, but I suck so it took two evenings in front of the TV.

*Tackle of love!* MD, THIS IS SO AWESOME!!
OMG, this is the coolest picture of Hybrid in the universe! o_o I absolutly ADORE the pose! He looks like he's having so much fun! You really captured his playful, high-speed, personality; and you did such an amazing job with his....everything! His anatomy is so spot on, the colours are just unbelievably perfect, and his get-up is done so rockingly and fitting. I love how his face came out - he does have a very different face from the others, and I think you nailed it! The birds are a perfect stylistic touch too. ; )
Oh my goodness, this is just the greatest thing ever. I suck so much for not having your half of the trade done at the same time!! D : I have a few sketches, but I need to put it in high gear now; though I don't think anything I could ever produce could be more kick-ass than this image right here. This constitutes a +fav., dude.

Since I've been drawing Hybrid so much lately (honestly, it took me FOREVER to figure out their designs), I might put him in another pic with other of my characters!
I tell ya, I'm looking forward to your image of Little Bird. The hardest thing for me was getting the body language right, because you have the most subtle ways of portraying weight and bulk (and therefor structure) in the posture of your characters, I'd love to see what you'll do.
